Point Ritchie has been attracting people for a long time.
Scientific research over the past three decades has suggested people may have been visiting the area for perhaps 80,000 years.
The resource-rich area helped sustain indigenous Australians with its abundance of marine life and plant and animal food among the dunes and coastal bush.
